Pit is a surreal iconography. Inspired by sculptures of the Italian sculptor Alberto Giacometti, battled physiques move restlessly, with furious woven lines into a seedy, metal-cold labyrinth. What is their purpose, what is their desire? In a world where nobody can sense the past, present or future, underground or above ground, Pit creates an environment without a sense for personalities or relationships, although these are longed for.
Pit was made possible with support from Kunstencentrum Vooruit in Gent, Belgium London Arts Board, Eastern Arts Board, the British Council, Whitethorn Strategic Development and ABSA.
