Ongoing opportunities
Open professional class in England and Belgium
When Retina is in rehearsal for a new production we open morning class to professional dancers. Class is usually from 10 to 11.30 each weekday and in either Nottingham or Antwerp. If you wish to be notified when these classes take place then send the form to Retina.
Retina Youth Dance Company in the East Midlands
Retina Youth is for dancers from age 15 to 19 that want to gain high standard technical training, choreographic and performance experience, and the opportunity to work with professional choreographers and dancers. The group exists for dancers that are committed to hard work and are willing to push themselves to develop their skills, as well as have some fun! The next audition for new members for Retina Youth will be through participation in a 3 day residency in December. During these 3 days working with Filip, the dancers will create a new work for performance, and then 12 people will be selected to continue as part of the company. From January weekly class and rehearsal will begin again on Saturdays at College Street Centre, Nottingham and costs £5 a week.
Kinderen dansen in Antwerp Berchem
Creative dance for children. A weekly class for children from age 3 to 5 at ccbe, 126 Driekoningenstraat, 2600 Antwerp-Berchem. Every Wednesday in school time from 1.30 to 2.30, this class will focus on developing the children’s creative and physical skills within a fun environment. Yearly fee is €90.
Technique class for young dancers in Nottingham
From January weekly technique classes for dancers from age 15 to 21 will take place at College Street Centre, Nottingham on Saturdays from 10 to 11.30. These classes are provided to offer a chance for dancers to improve their technical skills and embody the Retina movement style. Cost per class is £4.
School and community workshops in England and Belgium
Throughout the year Retina is available for teaching workshops for schools, youth and community groups. The company teach these high energy and fun workshops and usually relate the session to the current performance. The participants have an opportunity to understand the Retina movement style through a fun and intensive approach.
RAUW in England and Belgium
Retina’s participatory programme incorporates RAUW, a site specific performance event for the community. Within RAUW a venue can select the community of its choice; professional dancers, youth, seniors, integrated groups or whoever they wish. Retina will then work with the group in your venue to create a site specific performance event. There are no minimum and maximum age, group size or experience, each project takes its own form and culminates in an exciting performance event that leads your audience through your building/environment.

RAUW in C.C. Deurne, Antwerp, 21 to 26 September 2009
Are you 50 or over? Do you know someone that wants a chance to dance? Retina is leading another of its hugely successful RAUW projects in C.C. Deurne, Antwerp for anyone over 50 years. Some of the participants may be dancers, others may want to dance for the first time, but all are welcome. Join either a morning or an afternoon session to create a performance piece on the Saturday night that will take the audience on a walk through the building. Youth day of dance Saturday 3 October 2009 in Antwerp
A day of dance for anyone age 14 to 21. A technique class and learning some phrases and partnerwork will be followed by creating something of your own. Professional training 5 and 6 October 2009 in Antwerp
A technique class followed by repertoire and workshop for professional level dancers. The technique class focuses on the process of movement, emphasising efficiency and freedom and the workshop will incorporate taught material, improvisation and an opportunity for the participants to work with choreographic devices used within the latest production Antipode. Participants must commit to both days from 10:00 to 15:00 at ccbe. Total cost €50.
DansArt workshop, 18 October 2009 in Antwerp
Retina has recently become partners in DansArt with Passerelle, Wisper and C.C.Hasselt. DansArt workshops are for dancers from age 15 to 30 who want to discover more in contemporary dance. Technique class taught by Filip Van Huffel will be followed by a choreographic workshop where the participants will explore their own potential through guided improvisation and taught material. The day costs €29 and runs from 10:00 to 15:00 based at ccbe.
Danspunt study day of dance, 22 November 2009 in Lier
Study day for Graham, Cunningham and Limon contemporary techniques. This one day workshop organised by Danspunt, Artesis and OVSG will start with a warm up led by Natalie Gordon followed by technique classes and culminating in a discussion about how these techniques can be used and integrated led by Natalie. The day runs from 9:30 to 16:30 at Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen, Kluizeplein 8, 2500 Lier. Course costs between €25 and €60 depending on memberships and reservations are through Danspunt
DansArt Bartenieff Fundamentals workshop 29 November 2009 in Antwerp
A second workshop for DansArt using Bartenieff Fundamentals as a choreographic tool led by Natalie Gordon. DansArt workshops are for dancers from age 15 to 30. The day costs €29 and will be based at ccbe.

A second workshop for DansArt using Bartenieff Fundamentals as a choreographic tool led by Natalie Gordon. DansArt workshops are for dancers from age 15 to 30. The day costs €29 and will be based at ccbe.
RAUW for age 8 to 14 year olds, 15 to 19 February 2010 in Antwerp
Another site specific RAUW project at ccbe, but this time for youth from age 8 to 14 years. A week project for dancers to learn new moves as well as have the chance to choreograph some of their own work. DansArt workshop 28 March 2010 in Antwerp
