/// Matthew Slater

Matt began dancing at the age of 17 whilst studying A-Level performing arts. He then went on to train at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD), graduating in 2005. He completed a UK tour with Verve, and went on to complete a postgraduate diploma with London Contemporary Dance Company (LCDS), touring internationally to France, Denmark, Sweden and Portugal with EDge Dance Company in work choreographed by Trisha Brown and Siobhan Davies. Upon graduating from LCDS Matt joined Yael Flexer's Bedlam Dance Company and toured as part of her production of Doing, Done and Undone.

Matt joined Retina Dance Company in 2006 for their graduate project PAGE1 and has since toured internationally to Belgium, Germany, Ireland and South Korea with the following productions: The boy who never grows old, This is not a body, Relative Danger, Antipode, La Lutte and Layers of Skin, and will be performing in the next production Corporalis. In 2010 Matt joined the staff at NSCD as the Education and Community Dance Worker and is a course leader for the Centre for Advanced Training: Yorkshire Young Dancers. Matt also runs his own dance studio in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and is The Education Manager for Retina Dance Company.
